Continued from previous post...

With Meet the Teacher Night being tomorrow, we thought it was a good time for you to meet our entire Sutton Team! We are so excited to welcome our students back for the 26-27 school year!

Sutton Families,
As you know by now, Sutton uses a dismissal app/website called School Dismissal Manager. We are now ready for you to login and set your child's default dismissal. This is a requirement and must be done before the first day of school, or we can expect large delays in safely dismissing your child to the correct spot. This must be done for bus riders as well for parents who have their children ride the bus.
Look for an email in just a few minutes from SDM that includes your login credentials. PLEASE CHECK SPAM FOLDER as well. For returning parents from last year, the same username and password should work. For new-to-Sutton parents who are logging in for the first time, there is a temporary password that you'll use before setting up your permanent one. Your email that we have on file will be your username. We still have about 50 or so parents that do not have an email and need to login to the OPS app to respond to a message from the front office with that email so we can get you logged in, or you can respond to this email as well. SDM has a welcome letter that will give you a lot of the details you will need to know.
Please message or email the front office with any questions, concerns, or troubleshooting. Thank you!

📱 IMPORTANT: Update Your OPS App Notification Settings
Sutton Families please take 2 minutes to check your notification settings in the Owensboro Public Schools app!
Why: The app's notification preferences default to another school alphabetically, not Sutton. If this isn't corrected, you will not receive push notifications, alerts, or messages from Sutton Elementary.
This is especially important right now because we're sending individual messages to families who are missing an email address on file, and every family will need an email address on file to access School Dismissal Manager, our new dismissal app, starting on the first day of school.
If your notification settings aren't correct, you could miss a message asking you to update your email (and others) and that could delay your access to dismissal on day one.
How to fix it:
1. Open the OPS app and tap More (bottom right)
2. Tap the gear icon (Settings) in the top right
3. Tap Notification preferences
4. Tap Groups
5. Check the box for Sutton Elementary School and Owensboro Public Schools, and uncheck any other school listed
6. Tap Save
Screenshots below walk through each step. If you run into trouble, reach out to the front office and we're happy to help.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to get this set up. It'll make sure you don't miss a thing this year!

This Thursday!! This is a great event to communicate with community resources.

Our friends, and multi-year career day visitors from 2.0 Barber Studio are hosting a back to school bash. See flier for details!

The letters are in the mail! 📬✨
Be on the lookout because your child's teacher reveal letter should be arriving soon! We can't wait for our students to find out who they'll be spending the school year with.
Check your mailbox over the next few days, and get ready for an exciting start to a great year! 🍎✏️📚

Hello Sutton Families!
This message once again is coming through Infinite Campus as our two-way messaging capabilities through the new app aren’t up yet. But we’re also sending it as a “push notification” for those that do have the OPS app, as that feature is up and running. We’re also putting this message on Facebook and our “Feed” on the app so it catches everyone.
If you haven’t already, go ahead and download the OPS app so you are receiving push notifications and eventually will be able to message teachers and staff. Select “Sutton Elementary” in your settings to see all things related to our school.
A reminder that the “Events” tab is where we put all of our upcoming school-wide and grade-level calendar events. Right now we have a lot on there already! We have major assemblies, testing dates, parent-teacher conferences, holidays, and so on. The next few events before the first day of school are listed below…
-Meet the Teacher Letters- Put in the mail this Friday, July 17th.
-Kindergarten Camp- Monday, July 27th and Tuesday, July 28th from 8:30am to 11:30am.
-Meet the Teacher Night- Monday July 27th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.
-Kindergarten Brigance Screener (sign up link on our “Feed” and on Facebook)- Wednesday, July 29th.
-First Day of School- Thursday, August 6th.
Throughout the year we will add events like performances, grade level celebrations, field trips, and more. Your child’s teacher and/or school will communicate about these events as well through messaging, but this is the absolute best place to go to make sure you are receiving accurate information on anything event school-related. If you visit this page on the OPS website, you can even add it to your Google Calendar by clicking on the “Subscribe to this calendar” button.
For more school related information and announcements, go ahead and follow Sutton Elementary on Facebook, and/or you can make sure to check out the “Feed” tab also available on the OPS/Sutton app. Almost everything we post on social media will be the same in both places.
If you missed registration, stop by the front office at your convenience to get your child’s folder:
Pay school fees ($20)
Provide your child’s t-shirt size (we order Field Trip shirts for every student- no charge to families).
Sign up for the After School Program if needed.
Transportation
Fill out Bus Forms if your child will be using OPS Buses.
Provide Kindergarten forms and documents (for Kindergarten students only if you haven’t already)
Proof of Residence (electric bill, phone bill, etc.)
Birth Certificate
Social Security Card
Physical Examination
Immunization Certificate
Eye Examination
Dental Screening
And lastly, one of the biggest questions we have gotten so far is related to arrival/dismissal procedures here at Sutton. Last year we rolled out a new dismissal app called School Dismissal Manager. We use this app for all things related to transportation and dismissal. You can also report absences, transportation changes, etc. all through the app without calling the front office, and it will notify the school and teacher. We also use it as a “check-in” system for all parents and guardians when they arrive to pick up their child so we know you’re here. However we aren’t quite ready on this one yet either, so be on the lookout for a message next week. For everyone that already has it, you will be able to login as you did last year and select your child’s default transportation. For new users and families, go ahead and download it and wait for login credentials to be sent from the school. We are still handing out “car tags” as well, but those will go out to you at a later date as this will be our primary system.
Please call or email administrators at Sutton if you have any questions at all so far. Thank you!
