After collecting Little Debbies and 2-liter sodas this week, 6th grade is in 1st place with 29 items, 7th grade is in 2nd place with 26 items, and 8th grade is in 3rd place with 5 items! We will be collecting Little Debbies and 2-liters until Thursday, October 29th.
Our first week of collecting donations for our PBIS Carnival has been a little slow, so Mrs. Priddy and Ms. Fuller would like to remind you that we are accepting donations of 2-liter sodas and boxes of Little Debbies/snack cakes now through October 29th for our PBIS Carnival. Our PBIS Carnival will be a reward for students who have earned good grades and received no referrals throughout the 1st nine weeks.

We will have our preseason wrestling parent information meeting on Thursday, October 29, at 5:30 PM in the OHS Cafeteria.
This meeting is for students and parents / guardians of Owensboro High School and Owensboro Middle School students who plan to wrestle this season or are interested in joining the team.
We will go over schedules, expectations, tournaments, and other important information for the upcoming season. We will also share information about our brand-new Owensboro Youth Wrestling Program for students in grades 3–6!

This fall, Owensboro Public Schools will participate in the Kentucky Incentives for Prevention (KIP) Youth Survey, a statewide survey funded by the KY Department for Behavioral Health,
Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
The KIP Survey asks students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 about aspects of youth attitudes and
behaviors on important topics like substance use and school safety. The purpose of the survey is simple: to help schools better understand student needs so we can strengthen support for students, families, and our community.

Fall Break begins tomorrow for Owensboro Public Schools! We will be out tomorrow through next week. Central Office will also be closed to the public next week as well. We hope everyone has a relaxing and safe Fall Break and we will see all of our students back in class on Monday, October 19!
Girls basketball tryouts begin today and tomorrow in the big gym after school. Tryouts will end at 4:30. Please make sure your player has an up-to-date physical and a ride home.
6th Grade students will select their performing arts choice today. Please refer to the informational letter sent home with them on Wednesday for details. Contact Mrs Ferry or Mrs. Frizzell if you have any questions!
8th grade field trip to Chaney's Farm and WKU tomorrow 9/24. Buses leave Oms at 8am and will return at 2pm in time for afternoon dismissal. Students will be touring the farm and WKU so please dress accordingly. (Walking shoes, pants, jacket, etc) the field trip is free, no money is needed for anything. Cell phones are allowed as long as students are using them appropriately.
OPS Parents, join us this Friday for the first of four Coffee & Chat with District Admins at Red Swing Coffee on Parrish Avenue. The event will run from 7:30-8:30 that morning and will be an opportunity to connect with district decision makers and share your thoughts with us about our district. And the coffee is on us! We hope to see you there!

Next week is Ag Week across the state of Kentucky and OPS is getting in on the fun! We have activities planned for all of our students throughout the week and each day has a different theme! We encourage you to participate in our "All in for Ag" Spirit Week next week! We look forward to seeing everyone's creativity throughout the week!
