Red Ribbon Week is currently the largest and longest-running drug prevention campaign in the nation. It's now estimated that nearly 80 million people participate in Red Ribbon Week each year. Red Ribbon awareness is meant to demonstrate the importance of making healthy choices and smart decisions throughout life -g showing children and teens everywhere that they can achieve their goals by remaining drug-free.

Children of parents who talk to their teens regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don't. Unfortunately, only a quarter of teens report having these conversations with their parents.

This year's Red Ribbon Week theme is Life Is A Movie, Film Drug Free . The theme is a call to action to speak out in support of healthy choices. It also serves as a reminder that we are all empowered with shaping the communities around us through positivity, bravery, and strength.

At Owensboro High School, we love our students and we want them to lead happy, healthy, productive and wonderful lives. We know that by making healthy choices, like staying drug free, our young people are more likely to live their best lives.

During Red Ribbon Week, October 23 through October 31, we will have lots of fun at OHS with Red Ribbon Spirit Week - Movie Edition, give-a-ways, trivia, and school-wide instruction on living a drug free life.  We will ask our Red Devils to commit to making healthy choices to ensure a brighter future.

Red Ribbon Week is sponsored by our Youth Service Center.
