REMINDER: Owensboro Public Schools will not be in session tomorrow, September 4, 2026 or Monday, September 7 in observance of the Labor Day holiday! We hope everyone has a safe and relaxing weekend and we will see you back in class on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
High Attendance Day on Tuesday, Sept 9th
iMiddle Book Fair
Beginning Monday, your child will be able to sign up for After-School Clubs. Clubs will start on Monday, September 14 and will take place each Monday and Wednesday throughout the school year. We must have a signed permission slip for your child to participate in club activities. Permission slips are located in the Youth Service Center.
The following clubs will be available to start the school year:
Homework Help- Mondays and Wednesdays all year
Lego Builders- Mondays and Wednesdays, Sep 14 - Oct 7 (20 cap)
Table Top Games- Mondays (24 student capacity)
Robotics- Mondays (24 student capacity)
Environmental Club- Wednesdays (7th grade only)
Clubs will run from 2:45-3:45 on Mondays and Wednesdays. Your child will go to the cafeteria for a healthy snack after school, then be picked up by their club sponsor.
If you will be picking your child up from after-school clubs, please be here by 3:45 (you can park out front), and your child will be released out the front door.
We do provide bus transportation from after-school clubs. Please note that after-school bus stops may differ from your child’s normal bus stop. I will contact you if your child’s bus stop is different from their regular stop.

The issue preventing parents of students in both our district and DCPS has been resolved! You should now be able to login to your child's Rooms account through the OPS app with the following steps:
1) Open the OPS App
2) Click on "Rooms" at the bottom of the screen
3) Click on the red "Sign In' Button
4) Enter your PHONE NUMBER with no dashes in the box asking for phone number
5) Enter the verification code sent to your phone
6) Accept the terms of service
This should allow you to login. If it doesn't, you likely aren't listed as one of the two primary guardians of the student. If you are unable to login, please contact rooms@owensboro.kyschools.us and we will work to resolve the issue.

August 14th is National Creamsicle Day... All OPS Cafeterias will be serving a special treat.
OPS Parents: We are aware of the issue preventing guardians from being able to login to the OPS app if they have students enrolled in both our district and DCPS. Our vendor informed us that they have identified the issue that is preventing the login and are actively working on it this evening to get it resolved. As soon as it is, we will be sure to get that information out to you. There is nothing on our end that we can do to solve the issue, but rest assured, we will stay in contact with the vendor until it is resolved. Students interested in Middle School Softball, tryouts are today, August 4th a Shifley Park at 4:30 p.m.!

Our annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive is taking place this Friday, July 31 all day long at both Owensboro Walmart locations! Unfortunately, the temperature outside has not cooperated enough and several of the roads on our bus routes and sidewalks remain unsafe. In order to have a NTI lifeline in the event of another weather event, tomorrow, Fri. Feb 6, 2026, will be called as a traditional snow day.
In order to not have to add on to the end of the school year, the PD Day scheduled for March 13 will now be a normal school day.
With warmer weather expected over the weekend, we are hopeful that we can return on Monday. A decision will be made by 5 p.m. on Sunday and we will communicate that with you.

Road conditions have drastically improved thanks to the efforts of our City Road Crews, but unfortunately, the situation hasn't improved enough quite yet to be able to return to school. Please know we are doing our best and checking routes multiple times per day to try and make it work, but we want to make sure when we do return it is safe for all our students. Tomorrow, Wed. Feb 4, 2026 will be NTI Day #8 for OPS. We miss our students and we hope to have them back very soon! Road conditions are improving, but unfortunately, aren't quite where we need them to be in order to return to school. Thank you to the City of Owensboro for their assistance in attempting to get some secondary roads cleared for us today. There is a small chance for some additional winter weather in the forecast tomorrow, but could potentially just be rain. We're hopeful that with just rain and temperatures staying above freezing we will be able to return very soon, but we will keep you informed as conditions improve. Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3, 2026 will be NTI Day #7 for OPS. We greatly appreciate your patience as we eagerly await the return of our students!
Unfortunately, conditions on many side roads in neighborhoods have not improved over the weekend. Therefore, OPS will utilize NTI Day #6 on Monday, February 2, 2026. We're hoping for more sunshine and warmer weather to help get these roads clear in order to get our students back in school!
