Due to winter weather causing unsafe road conditions, Owensboro Public Schools will utilize NTI Day #1 on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

With winter weather in the forecast, now is a good time to remind our students and families about communicating school closures and NTI expectations.

As a reminder, the district WILL NOT make any announcement unless school is cancelled or we decide on an NTI day. If you don't get a message from the district or see it on the District Facebook page, assume school is in session.

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TICKET INFORMATION:

Owensboro High School Red Devils will be the VISITING team in the KHSAA 5A State Championship!

General Admission tickets (the only available) in the lower seating bowl (including the area behind the visiting team bench), is $17 through midnight Thursday and the remaining will be on sale for $20 as a game-day price.

The Owensboro Board of Education approved the 2026-27 School Calendar last night during the Board meeting. This calendar can also be found on the homepage of the District website as well as under Menu > Parents tab on the district website.

Join us next Friday, November 7 for the second of our Coffee with OPS event! This time, we will be at Red Swing Coffee - West Location 2803 W Parrish Ave. from 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Reminder: Registration for our new OBA Elementary Developmental Basketball league for 2nd thru 5th grade elementary school students ends Sept 12. IF there are multiple students in the same household wanting to register, a registration form must be completed for EACH student.

Registration Fee will be added to each student's "School Cash Online" payment option following the end of the registration window. So there is no payment required upfront.

This Friday, September 5, join us for the first of several "Coffee with OPS" events this year! The first one will be held at Kim's Diner from 7:30-8:30 a.m. that morning. Join Superintendent Dr. Wendy Duvall and other District Administrators to talk about our district and ways you can get involved. Coffee is on us, so come join us for a great morning!

Summer Food Service will begin on May 27. This service provides free meals for anyone in our community aged 18 or younger. You must remain on-site for the meals and parents are not allowed to come and pick them up to take them home. ***Attention*** Emergency agencies are participating in a SIMULATION exercise this morning (Wednesday, April 23) at Owensboro High School and at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Please be aware that this event is a simulation for educational purposes and that there is NO ACTIVE EMERGENCY at this time.

ALL Owensboro Public Schools will be OPEN tomorrow, Wednesday, March 19, 2025 and will operate on a normal schedule! Thank you to our building staff and roofing contractors for quickly addressing the damage issues and allowing us to be back to full operational status for tomorrow!

Due to damage sustained during Saturday morning's storms that has revealed itself throughout the day today, Estes Elementary School will be closed Tuesday, March 18, 2025. This ONLY impacts Estes Elementary and all other schools (unless notified otherwise) will be in session as normal. We will update you on the status for Wednesday at a later time. Meals will be available for Estes students to pick-up at the following times at the loading dock on the right side of the school coming from the entrance off Leitchfield Rd.: - Breakfast - 8-9:30 a.m. - Lunch - 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Online Registration for the 2025-26 school year is now open to families to begin registering their students for the upcoming school year. Families in the Owensboro Public Schools district need to visit startolr.com and select "25-26" year at the beginning to complete their registration for next school year. All returning families' information is already in the database, they just need to confirm it is updated and correct to complete online registration. Families who are new to the district will need to visit the school in which their child will attend. If they are unsure of what school their child will attend, they can find a district map on the district website at owensboro.kyschools.us.

Owensboro Public Schools will be IN SESSION on Friday, February 21, 2025.

Due to some side roads being inaccessible as well as the possibility for overnight freezing with extreme cold, Owensboro Public Schools will utilize NTI Day #5 tomorrow, Thursday, February 20, 2025.

Due to Winter Weather Warning and the potential for several inches of snow expected overnight, Owensboro Public Schools will utilize NTI Day #4 Tomorrow, February 19, 2025.

Due to the potential of hazardous road conditions throughout the morning, Owensboro Public Schools will utilize NTI Day #3 today, Tuesday, February 11, 2025 for all students.

We typically do not make an announcement when we are having school, but because we have been out for quite a while, we wanted to make sure everyone knows that OPS will be in session beginning at normal time tomorrow, Monday, January 13, 2025!
