OPS Superintendent, Dr. Wendy Duvall has named Lindsey Alvey the next Instructional Coordinator for Math and Science. Alvey will officially move into the new role effective July 1, 2026. She will be replacing Dr. Sarah Brown who has accepted the role as principal at Estes Elementary.
“I am truly excited to step into this new opportunity to oversee the math and science instruction from a district level,” said Alvey. “I’ve enjoyed my time working in elementary education, but this opportunity will allow me to collaborate with teachers from across the district to implement a universal curriculum that best serves our students along their educational journey.”
Alvey comes to Owensboro Public Schools after spending the last six years teaching elementary school at Country Heights Elementary School. Prior to her time with Daviess County Public Schools, Alvey taught nine years of elementary school in the Ohio County Public Schools district.
Alvey earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Western Kentucky University and Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands. She also holds an Education Specialist Certificate in Instructional Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands and is a National Board Certified Teacher.
The experience Alvey brings with her from serving in multiple districts is something Superintendent Dr. Wendy Duvall believes sets Alvey up for success in this new role.
“Lindsey comes highly recommended to us from both of the previous districts in which she has worked,” said Duvall. “Her vast knowledge of elementary education and her strategic approach to implementing curriculum in the classroom will allow us to continue the progress we have made over the past several years with our districtwide curriculum.”
Alvey will officially step into her new role effective July 1, 2026.
