JROTC Award

On Friday, April 24 during a schoolwide assembly, the OHS JROTC program was recognized by the Department of Army Instruction as the oldest and longest running JROTC program in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

JROTC programs across the country began in 1916 and the program at Owensboro High School has been actively operating since 1919.

This not only makes them the oldest program in the state, but also the longest continuously active program.

The cadets along with Colonel Carl Fehrenbacher and First Sergeant Stone were recognized by the Department of Army Instruction and presented with a plaque recognizing their service to JROTC for more than a century.
