Owensboro High School Senior Abigail (Abby) Ladwig has been appointed the General Director of UNESCO for the upcoming Kentucky United Nations Assembly's Conference. The conference will take place March 1-3, 2026 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Louisville.
The Kentucky United Nations Assembly (KUNA) is a 3-day, experiential-learning conference in which students participate directly in simulated international diplomacy. KUNA offers students the opportunity to experience the richness of cultures from around the world, develop empathy, and hone their critical thinking skills while engaging with a wide variety of perspectives and global issues.
Owensboro High School has participated in KUNA many times throughout the year, but to our knowledge, Ladwig is the first to hold a presiding role in the conference. She will attend the Winter KUNA Retreat on February 7, 2025 to prepare for the upcoming conference.
